Joinery and kitchen installation in Scotland

Our day-to-day work sits in Cumbernauld, Glasgow and the Central Belt, and for larger projects we travel further across Scotland. If you are outside our usual patch, call and we will tell you honestly whether the job works for both of us.

Serving Scotland

Impact Joinery is a Cumbernauld business with a Central Belt working radius, and for projects of a certain size that radius extends across Scotland. Whole-house joinery packages, multi-room kitchen and cabinetry projects, and commercial fit-outs are the kind of work that justifies the travel. A single door two hours away does not, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than quote a price loaded with mileage.

Getting out to you

For work outside our normal patch, scheduling is planned rather than reactive. A project further afield is programmed as a block of consecutive working days so the job runs continuously instead of stopping every night for a long drive. We do not offer a callout or emergency service anywhere in Scotland, our hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

The property types we see in Scotland

Scottish housing stock varies enormously by region: granite and stone-built property in the north and east, rural stone cottages with metre-thick walls and no level surface anywhere, post-war urban housing across the Central Belt, and modern timber-frame developments everywhere. What does not vary is the principle, the property gets measured on site, and the quotation reflects what is actually there.

What people here ask us for most

Beyond our core area we are usually asked about complete kitchen projects, bespoke cabinetry for period or irregular rooms, staircase work, and commercial joinery where a client wants one contractor for the whole timber package. Property owners with holiday lets and second homes come to us for refurbishment work scheduled between bookings.

Nine years across both sectors

Domestic and commercial joinery, carpentry and kitchen installation, with qualified trades coordinated by us where required.

Local conditions

Joinery problems we see most often in Scotland

Property age, construction type and Scottish weather decide what goes wrong and when. These are the issues we are called to most in this area.

Scottish weather against external timber

Wind-driven rain, long wet winters and freeze-thaw cycles are the standard operating conditions for any external timber in Scotland. Decking, gates and door frames need the right timber, drainage designed in and fixings that will not bleed rust down the face within a year.

Older stone property with nothing level

In stone-built and rural houses there is often no straight line to work from, walls bow, floors dip and openings taper. Standard units cannot resolve that, which is why made-to-measure joinery and on-site scribing dominate this kind of work.

Heating, humidity and timber movement

Properties that swing between unheated and fully heated, holiday lets and second homes especially, move timber hard. Doors that fitted in October bind in February. Allowance for that movement is designed in rather than adjusted for afterwards.

Getting trades to remote jobs

Coordinating plumbing and electrical work is harder the further out you are. We arrange the qualified trades around our own programme so the whole job moves as one, instead of leaving you to align three diaries yourself.

Our process

How the job runs from first call to guarantee

01

Your call and initial questions

You ring 07901 993084 or send the estimate form. We ask enough about the property, the scope and your timescale to know whether the job suits us and when we could realistically start. If it is not work we can do well, we say so at that point rather than after a wasted visit.

02

Free site visit and measure

We come out and measure the actual space. Site visits are arranged as quickly as the size and complexity of the job allow, and they cost nothing. Measuring on site is what makes a fixed price possible, walls are rarely square, and photographs hide the details that change a price.

03

Fixed-price quotation in writing

You get a written quotation setting out exactly what is included: the timber, the fixings, the making good, and any work by other trades we would coordinate. Where the scope can be clearly established the price is fixed, so it does not move unless you change what you have asked for.

04

Joinery carried out and made good

We work in an agreed sequence so you keep use of the property wherever that is practical, protect floors and surfaces, cut outside or with extraction where we can, and make good around every new piece so the decorator has a clean edge to work to.

05

Handover, tidy-up and 12-month guarantee

We walk the finished work with you, deal with anything you are not happy with there and then, and clear the site. Our workmanship is covered by a 12-month guarantee on issues arising directly from our installation. Full warranty terms are confirmed as part of your quotation.
